In 2023, we have supported the SRPC's workshops with a number of simulators and engaged in collaborative research to test their acceptability and efficacy.
We have co-designed and manufactured over 300 simulators with the help from our amazing maxSIMstarter team. We are currently working on publications that stem out fo this work.
The overall goal of this project is to develop six stackable digital micro-credentials to provide medical lab technologists and technicians with an interprofessional education (IPE) experience to support the acquisition of IPC competencies. Learners must demonstrate expertise in the following competencies:
Pre-licensure and Post licensure learners will receive a digital certificate for each credential. The approach we have taken is to use multimodal learning facilitated through our own experiential, collaborative and gamified learning management system. This involves the use of interactive videos, graphics, readings, and serious games, to engage the learners' minds in multiple learning styles at the same time.
The resulting micro-credentialing system will be built on two theories: elaboration and pear assisted learning (PAL), to further stimulate interprofessional education and collaborative exploration of the six constructs we are trying to teach in the modules.
